March Madness

These are pictures of an island (Caja de Muertos) I went to this weekend with Barb and Mandi. It is off of the town Ponce. We took a ferry there. I thought it was awesome. The water was so clear and blue. I told the girls I want to get married here. I love it. We tried to snorkel, but it was not that good. We did not see any coral reefs. However, I did see a starfish at the bottom. I have never seen a real starfish in the ocean. I have also been to Culebra, another really pretty island, but this was better for us because it is closer and more convenient. The snorkeling is way better in Culebra though.

I love this picture of the anchor!
That's me floating in my new pink raft. The water was pretty chilly, but felt good.

The beach we laid on all day. Relaxing! And look at the beautiful water.

Too bad that's not my boat...
Last weekend, on the 23rd, we had Beer Olympics at our house. It was so much fun. We had t-shirts made, medals made from the beer boxes, and drinking games. None of our PR friends ever know any drinking games so that is why we had this party. We had the bags game made, which is awesome. One board is PR flagvand the other US flag. We had beer bongs, flippy cup, card games, and beer pong. Sounds real mature right??? Haha Everyone had a great time. We even had a DJ! Don't think the neighbors liked that, but whatever...It doesn't happen all the time. Our friend Gardy DJ's so he said he would do it for our party. It was great and we even had karaoke. The guys were so into it. Funny. The only thing that stunk was that it rained for a while. Then when it stopped it was so muddy outside, so it ended up in the house. It was worth it though. I cannot wait to have Beer Olympics 2010. Next year we have to work on getting kegs. It's crazy because they do not have kegs in PR. People don't even know what we are talking about when we say "keg." I guess it is possible to get them though...so I have heard.
Flippy cup
People really liked this game. It got pretty serious. The only problem is that you drink so many beers so fast. Dangerous.

Our new favorite beer Medalla. Who ever heard of Medalla? Not me...until I came to PR.
Roomies face off in beer bong! My friend Yoel even out valves on the ends so we can open and close them. Pretty high tech. I think I won too.

I got to go to my first professional soccer game. Puerto Rico has a team called the Puerto Rico Islanders. They were playing against Cruz Azul from Mexico. I guess that is a really good team and it was a semi-finals game for the league so it was packed. It was so fun. I did not think I liked soccer, but seeing it live is exciting. There were so many people there, and PR won so that was even better.

Go PR!!!!!
Blue team is from Mexico, Orange is PR

Molina Mills in Guayama

Beautiful view I see everyday. Love it!

More of the sugarcane mill and an old sugarcane storage house

Wow this month flew by. Actually every month does. I cannot believe that this school year is almost over. In a week and a half I have twelve days off for Spring Break, and then we come back and only like four weeks until summer! Crazy. I am also excited because I have two friends, Katie and Mia, coming to visit during SB. I know we will have so much fun.
So I have been slacking on my blog...Let me catch you up.
The first weekend in March there was a PasoFino Festival in Guayama. It is a horse show with some of the nicest horses around. I went with Barb and Mandi. I liked the horses but it was not that fun. When we left we decided to wak across the street to the old sugar cane mills. I think they are so cool. They have these mills all over the island from when there were big sugarcane plantations here, but they are no longer in use.

More Pictures from surfing...

One of the surfers from the Corona Pro Surf Competition I went to last weekend in Rincon.

The band that played at the restaurant we went to for Alyssa's brithday. The two ladies on the right were eating at the restaurant. Before you know it the band starts pulling out instruments, and these ladies join the band.

Corona Surf Competition

Picture of the surfer boys waiting for a good wave
This weekend I went to the West side of the island to Rincon. Rincon is a surfing town with lots of Americans. It feels like a totally different place than Guayama. Many more people speaking English. I went to Rincon with the Mudd's and Mandi. We left Friday evening after school and came home Saturday night. On Friday we stayed at The Rincon Inn. It was like a small apartment, not too bad. Only paid 20 bucks each! Friday night we went out to some local bars on the beach. There were tons of people out. People came from around the United States to compete in the surfing competition. I was hoping to meet a hot surfer boy, but that did not happen. Most of them were actually pretty grungy and dirty looking. Anyways we had a great time Friday night. We hung out at the Tamboo Tavern. Fun place on the beach, which had live reggae music.
We woke up early Saturday to get to the beach for the competition. It was pretty awesome watching the surfers. There were boys and girls. The girl who was actually in the lead for the day was only 13! I think that would be so awesome to grow up on the beach and surf all the time. I think I am going to make my kids do that. Rough life some of these people have! We ended up leaving around 4 in the evening to get back to Guayama. We were all pretty tired. The finals were not until Sunday, but we did not want to stay another night. I am glad we did not stay because I was super tired.

Me with this great Pina Coloda! It was sooo good. They even gave you the pineapple from the inside of the drink.

Me on Alyssa's Birthday at our favorite restaurant in the mountains. This place is so beautiful and so fun. They had live music the whole time and the band sang many songs to Alyssa.
