My third year in PR!

Hey! SO I really slacked last year on my blog, and this year I hope to keep it up. I got back to PR on Aug. 2, and have already been having lots of fun. Supposedly this is my last year here, but we will see what happens. This year we only have one new American teacher, Rachel. My roommate, Mandi, from the first two years moved to Colombia. The Mudd's moved to the Ukraine. Barb went to Yemen. I am actually the only original one left. This year I do not have a roommate. It is weird without Mandi here because we always did everything together. I have the Berry's down the street now, so I love that!

We started school about one month ago today. I really like my new students. The kids are always really good here. Everything at school has been going smoothly. Although, it was hard to adjust to working again. I am also tutoring a brother and sister in their home everyday. The family is super nice and their kids are so sweet. I have long days, but it is worth it.

On the weekend we have been traveling to many places. Here are some pictures:

Guilligan's Island
Guanica, PR
SOme of us took a ten minute ferry ride here a couple of weekends ago. The water was so warm and clear. We snorkeled and hung out with some our Puerto Rican friends that met us there. It was a great day!

Rachel has an underwater camera. It is so fun to use.
This was in Luquillo, another one of my favorite beaches!
Waiting for the ferry boat.

We saw an octopus!

I love palm trees!
Star fish that some of the other teachers got to see. I love the picture though.

This weekend was Labor Day. I spent most of that time in San Juan. Some of us stayed in Old San Juan one night. We stayed in a very cool boutique style hotel called Da'House. The rooms are supposed to be reminiscent of the upscale hostels in Europe. It was very cute and close to everything. We had a nice dinner at The Parrot Club and then went out to dance at Latin Roots. Next day we went to El Morro, the old fort in Old San Juan, then hit up the beach.
My friend and I ended up staying in San Juan at the El San Juan Hotel and Casino Saturday night. The place is AMAZING! The pool, the restaurants, the rooms, the chandeliers, the club, the lobby, and the wordwork is beautiful. I had a great time staying there. We relaxed at the pool for a while, and later went to Club Brava in the hotel. We danced until 5 a.m. I had a blast! Great weekend!

Mom's visit & stuff...

This year I have really been lazy with my blog (sorry Patrick). Anyways, I have been busy lately. My mom and Angela were here for Thanksgiving. We had a great time. Relaxed a lot and hung out at the beach. On Thanksgiving we had a great dinner at the Mudd's house down the street. I did end up breaking my camera, which I am very sad about.
Last week I had another visitor, Chamron. This was his second time here. We did not do too much either because I was still working. We did go to Culebra for the night and camp on the beach. There was a meteor shower that night, and it was awesome! I have never seen so many stars and so many shooting stars. So cool! It is the most awesome place to camp. You are right on the beach, which is an amazing beach. White sand and clear clear blue water. There is great snorkeling and it is so much fun. I think I will be headed back there with Andy, Karli, and Pat who will be here in a few days. On Wednesday I will have more visitors. They are going to love it. It is going to be great to have a friend and some of my family here for Christmas.

This is Audrey and Ethan. I had to put a pic of them because they are so cute. I work with their dad Jason and I am good friends with his wife Kim. Great Family.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Catching up with my blog...

It has been a while since I updated my blog. I am so lazy. So let's see, what have I been doing???
Well I had a birthday a couple of weeks ago. It was actually a sucky birthday because I started getting sick on my birthday. Ended up with Bronchitis. Did not get to go to the school Halloween party and couldn't go out on Halloween either because I felt like crap. I did put my costume on though. That's a long story too. I felt like crap, but I was going to go out anyways because I made my costume. Ended up waiting for like two hours for this guy I was dating to pick us up. Never came. Needless to say thats why I say, "Guy I was dating..." Hahah. Next! I am all better now. I hope it stays that way. So many students have been sick at school.

Two weekends ago I went with the Arrant family to the Ponce Hilton, which is about 4o minutes away. We hung out at the beautiful pool all day and then at night I went to the casino with Jason. I ended up winning like $200! I was playing this nickel machine and kept winning. It was a lot of fun.

This past weekend the girls went out to a Mexican restaurant. It really wasn't Mexican though and the food was bad. We went out afterwards and had a good time though. Saturday we went to Mr. Zayas house for a boxing party. Pacquioa and Cotto were fighting. It was a huge deal in PR because Cotto is from here. It was a great time. We sang karaokee until the fight started. They had it projected onto the house and it was a beautiful night. The guys ended up drinking a little too much, but a good time was had by all. Cotto lost.

Jason and I. You can see the fight on the house in the background. We projected onto the house. It was fun.
After the fight. Alyssa and I were stuck on that mic.

The guys taking shots of rum. No wonder they started getting all crazy.

Alyssa and I watiching the fight

Shotgun! I lost.

I was kissing my ring that was made out of a five dollar bill. Mandi dared me to pet this guys hair for $5 and I did. She should know that I will do things like that. Haha

Singing Karaoke

Ladies night out. Kim doesn't always get to come because she has two kids, but we always have so much fun when she does.

This lizard walked up to the pool and took a crap and it ran off into the water. GROSS!

One of the pools. It was so relaxing and nice.

Nice view from the hotel

First time I won that night! WoooHooo! $94.60

Beautiful view from a boat ride we took near Guayama

Me in my little mermaid costume. Did not even get to go out. Next year I will wear it.

Ladies night in Old San Juan

I saw this bird on my way to the bathroom in the restaurant. I asked this lady if I could hold it so she got the chef and he put it on me. Kim and I were trying to talk to it. Then I remembered where we were, and said, "We have to speak Spanish to it." So we tried and he started saying, "hola!" I was super excited. The bird was also 40 years old.
This past weekend all of the American girls decided to have a ladies night in Old San Juan. Old San Juan is the oldest city in America. It is a really cute town with tons of stuff to do. We went to a restaurant called Barrachina. It is the birthplace of the pina coloda! It was a super nice place. We chose this place because they have a live flamenco dance show. We all had a great time!
